Founder and President
Alana Kohl is an accomplished publicist, published author, brand strategist and trusted marketing consultant. She is considered an “out-of-the-box” thinker and problem solver. She helps financial professionals and organizations think big when it comes to their businesses, and then strategically designs the detailed concepts and execution strategies needed to accomplish those objectives. Alana’s decade plus of experience in the financial services industry has led to the creation of AdvisorPR’s innovative and all-inclusive marketing communications programs, helping financial professionals and organizations coast to coast define, support and promote unique brands and systematically capture the opportunities that result. With her media-savvy know-how and instinctive marketing sense, she leads the AdvisorPR team to continuously produce amazing results for the clients the company serves.
Alana began her career in public relations and advertising for a Fortune 500 company. She followed this with a corporate role in the financial realm, working on behalf of both the corporate office and advisors. Through these experiences, Alana developed the know-how and talent to succeed in large-scale national marketing communications campaigns, and she understands how to apply the same methodologies and attention to detail to individual advisor practices. Alana has a Bachelor of Science in Business Marketing and founded AdvisorPR in January of 2005. She is married to her husband, John, and together they have two children.
Director of Marketing
As director of marketing, Courtney Browning brings creative talent from more than a decade of experience in marketing, branding and advertising roles. She works with AdvisorPR’s clients in developing integrated marketing communication plans and consulting on coordinated marketing and branding initiatives.
Courtney started her career in the financial industry managing an in-house marketing agency with a prominent financial corporation. During this time, she established professional brand images for more than two hundred independent financial advisors across the country. From there, she obtained her life insurance and Series 65 licensing and became an independent financial advisor; with her experience developing retirement income plans, prospecting, hosting weekly financial radio and TV programs and managing compliance, she has experienced all that goes into being a financial advisor today. Reconnecting with her true passion of marketing communications, she joined AdvisorPR in 2014, bringing firsthand understanding and knowledge of the industry to AdvisorPR.
Courtney is a magna cum laude graduate of Washburn University with a bachelor’s in advertising and a minor in business.
Director of Public Relations
Jill Schofield brings her experience from the “other side” as a news anchor and producer for an NBC affiliate station to the team at AdvisorPR. As a public relations account executive, she focuses on creating media opportunities for clients in local, national and industry media outlets through broadcast, digital video and radio outlets.
Prior to joining AdvisorPR, Jill gained a variety of media experience, including: executive producer, lead anchor and assignment editor for broadcast media as well as serving as a color commentator and sideline reporter for ESPN radio. She has been involved in writing, video editing and the production of news content for local news programs and has collaborated on and shared content with national news organizations.
Jill is a graduate of Carroll College with a double major in communications and public relations, a focus in journalism and a minor in television broadcasting.
Noe’l Starks brings an impressive level of organization and attention to detail to AdvisorPR. Originally from Orange County, California, with a background in paralegal work, she helps support the team throughout daily operations and scheduling coordination.
Noe’l has her certificate and Associate of Arts in paralegal studies from Santa Ana College. She is married and is the proud mom of two daughters.
Daniel Williams is an award-winning journalist and business editor with more than twenty years of experience creating print and digital content for consumer and business audiences. As editorial director, Daniel works with AdvisorPR clients to help shape their vision and bring their financial expertise to clients as well as broader markets.
After nearly a decade of covering commercial real estate, Daniel joined the financial services industry as editor of Senior Market Advisor in 2008. Since then, he has witnessed major shifts in the financial services landscape and interviewed hundreds of financial advisors, gaining a deeper understanding of their challenges, motivations and insights as they work to provide a successful financial path for their clients. In addition to his work with SMA, Daniel added numerous duties over the years, including running the Senior Market Advisor Expo and Advisor Network Summit trade shows, serving as editor of ProducersWeb and Retirement Advisor, and overseeing the annuities content on LifeHealthPro.com.
Daniel earned a BA in marketing, an MBA with a focus in marketing and a Master’s in Environmental Management all from Samford University. A native of the Deep South, Daniel relocated from Los Angeles to Denver where he lives with his wife, daughter, two dogs and a cat.
Sales & Marketing Associate
Jack King brings 40 years experience to the team in marketing and business development, plus strategic planning and operations management, across a wide range of industries. His last 17 years have been in the financial services sector.
The first half of his career was in the advertising agency business and later, heading up marketing departments and PR staff on the corporate side. He became Director of Strategic Planning at an early age at iconic Ogilvy & Mather when O&M acquired an agency where he was a principal. When the timing was right, he started his own successful agency that was subsequently acquired by Sicola Martin Koons Frank (became SicolaMartin). The second half of his career has been focused more on sales, business development and strategic alliances.
He has an M.A., an M.B.A. (led his class), plus a year’s work on a Ph.D. he’ll likely never finish. He’s the author of three novels (with the fourth on the way). Jack is married with two grown daughters, both amazingly talented. He and his wife are the willing servants of a high-spirited family of dachshunds who allow them to share their home.
